Inspiration can be so many things and what it means to each of us will be unique.
On this page I will share images, quotes and other small offerings that inspire me.
By this I mean...
they stir my curiosity,
support me seeing something (or myself) with a new perspective,
they encourage me to breathe more deeply
or shine a light in some way.
I hope there is something here that sparks more of your own inspiration or light...and maybe even offers a new perspective.

I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii and this was the first time I went to the top of Mauna Kea. There are observatories from different countries up there with telescopes because there is the least amount of light pollution and you can see deep into the skies. The energy felt different up there. Away from cell towers and clutter of other noise. The quiet was deep and nourishing to me.
And in case you are curious: "Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano on the island of Hawaiʻi. Its peak is 4,207.3 m above sea level, making it the highest point in the state of Hawaiʻi. Most of the volcano is underwater, and when measured from its underwater base, Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in the world, measuring 10,211 m in height." |
A while back on a road trip to the West Coast, I took Highway 50 (dubbed "The Loneliest Highway in America"). In the middle of nowhere with no other cars around, I came upon this tree with all these shoes draped from the branches. The shoes were of every kind. I stopped the car to take a look and as I got closer...I saw that each shoe had a wish, prayer or dream written on it.
I sat under the tree for a while to feel all the people that had cast these wishes into the branches...and to feel into each of us as humans. All the dreams and all the ways we look to something bigger than us...something that feels like magic....something that inspires us. |
Ohhh dogs! I feel like they teach me so much. I am grateful as a child, I grew up with lots of dogs and I have had powerful and positive experiences with them. They can show so much about the path of play, connection and unconditional loving. And while I know that sounds cliche, there is a beauty in a dog that hasn't had that conditioned out of them...because in many ways I think this is true of humans too. We have all this love and care that we are designed to give and receive and we have sometimes been conditioned out of it. And dogs...they can remind us or give us the space to connect on this level freely.
At least that is what dogs inspire and teach me.

There is a quality of street art or messages that can be a perfect moment or reminder. When we are out on a walk we might not always be looking for what we find. Something appears perhaps unexpectedly and offers an honest glimpse or reflection. It could also be a spot we look forward to seeing on a favorite route taken. Whatever the case, the opportunity for alchemy is present and the awareness offered can be so nourishing.
I never know what to expect and enjoy how much an image or word can dive deep within me and offer a new perspective, help me breathe more easy or maybe just uplift me in a moment. |

These photos were taken in Cleveland, OH. The beauty in life for me...are the things that help me see a new perspective. Both of these art expressions did that for me.
And in many ways, I think this is what we have often relied on art and 'artists' to show us.
And I might also offer, that we can give this to ourselves as well. Even in a situation or place we have been in or seen time and time again...we can choose to find a new way to experience it or see it.
I like to meet familiar situations like puzzles and look for a new way to meet them. I practice this with the mundane moments so my skill for doing this gets stronger and I can call on it for the more challenging moments in life.

“Our only job in every situation is to merely let go of our resistance to love.”
The deep practice of tea ....I contemplate this as I sit here now sipping my afternoon tea.
All the connections, sharings, humanity that emerges beyond language and upbringing that have flowed from the simple sharing of tea in all the places around the globe I have been. But then also at a very young age sitting in the garden with my grandmother. The profound connection and sharing between us to sip tea and watch the light change and the birds dance in this small patch of backyard. And of course the ritual I find in it every morning as I quietly sit it meditative contemplation and nourishment with it. When I see this photo or conjure the multitude of memories of tea sharing I have...there is a quiet connectivity I feel in my bones. A perfection within the chaos of life. |
